The term “syndet” comes from the combination of the words “synthetic” and “detergent.” It sounds scary, but with the right combination of ingredients, it’s not necessarily a bad thing. By combining variations of different synthetic detergents, a syndet bar is formed. Syndet bars have, in fact, been around a long time.
Syndet bars are not soap. Likewise, syndet solid shampoo bars aren’t the same as a syndet “soap” bar. Syndet solid shampoo bars are crafted from a combination of mild detergent based cleansers formulated to wash and care for hair. They do not contain lye and once made can be ready for use within a day or two.
